Adult Discipleship

Adult Discipleship Classes

The mission of NPC is to lead all people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.  In essence, that is simply a restating of Christ’s command to “go, make disciples of all nations.”  But a real disciple, someone who is developing, by the Spirit, the character and capacity of Jesus, someone who looks like the members of the church in the book of Acts, is not produced by accident.  A mature Christian is shaped very purposefully, and becomes who she/he is by submission to the gentle and easy yoke of Jesus Christ.  At NPC, we’re putting our eggs in the basket of discipleship, beginning first with our elders, who will then train our membership, who will then be sent in a whole new way into our community of Newland and Avery County.

Scripture Study

Dive into the scriptures with an in-depth reading and exploration of Jesus' teachings in the book of Matthew. Our class meetings take place on Sunday mornings at 10am in the new Community Life & Church Office building. We welcome you to join us and be a part of this enriching experience!

Topical Discussion

This group is currently studying "Life Lessons from 1 Corinthians: A Spiritual Health Check-Up" by author Max Lucado. Lucado's book delves into Paul's letter to the early church, guiding readers to reflect on their spiritual well-being with love and urging them to pursue purity in their lives. You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings from 10-11am for an enriching discussion. Everyone is welcome!

Small Group Reflection

This small group session takes place in the Fellowship Hall right after the Early Service on Sunday mornings. It involves engaging in meaningful discussions about the sermon, worship songs, and the daily walk of faith with Jesus Christ. The focus is on reflecting on what spoke to you during the morning's worship service and sharing experiences from your journey as a follower of Christ over the past week. What resonated with you during today's worship? What significant moments did you encounter last week as you pursued your discipleship with Christ? Share your thoughts and reflections to deepen our collective understanding and faith journey together.

Women of the Church

The Women of the Church (WOC) at NPC meet every 1st Monday of the month at 1pm. They are currently diving into a study titled "Let Justice Roll Down," exploring God's call to care for neighbors and all creation. Everyone is welcome to join as we explore various Old and New Testament scriptures that highlight God's desire for us to be good stewards.
