Welcoming Pastor Chip

Pastor Chip is helping us get organized!
The Newland Presbyterian Church Session, in conjunction with Pastor Michael, is delighted and grateful to announce that the Reverend Chip Grammer has agreed to help us take some important next steps together as a congregation.
Beginning July 1st, Pastor Chip will receive the title of Pastor Emeritus, honoring him for the many ways that he has already served and continues to serve Christ among us, even as he steps into a more defined role.
As you have likely noticed, our congregation has grown to the point that we find ourselves at an important juncture. Demographically speaking, we have moved from a “family sized church” of 40 to 60 people, to a “small-sized congregation” of 150 members.
What joy there is in seeing God at work, growing us in number even as the Spirit grows us to maturity in Christ!
This numerical and spiritual growth invites greater participation from our entire church family, which in turn requires more clearly defined opportunities and structures to enable the service of “the whole people of God.”
Pastor Chip, at the direction of the Session, has agreed to help us meet this moment by developing for our congregation a manual of policies and procedures which will help define more clearly how we are organized, who is responsible for what, and how to accomplish the mission God has called us to live out together.
After this administrative manual is approved by the Session, Pastor Chip will then train the Session and committee leaders on how to implement and communicate more broadly its content.
The goal of this project is to help each and every NPC member find a place to serve and participate in our larger mission of leading all people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
In addition to this particular project, we are grateful that Pastor Chip will continue sharing in worship leadership and providing pastoral care to our church family as needs arise.
We are so fortunate that the Lord saw fit to bring Pastor Chip and Bobbie Grammer to our church family years ago. Let us give thanks that God is now inviting us to receive yet again from Chip’s expertise and experience in pastoral ministry.
Please be in prayer for Pastor Chip and for our church family as we seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ together. Indeed, God is good! All the time.
Glory to God.
